Thousands of people have seen in the New Year with spectacular fireworks displays in London, Edinburgh and across the UK.
There was a huge police presence on the streets of London as spectators from nearly 100 countries flocked to the Thames to watch the night sky light up as Big Ben struck midnight.

With memories of the lethal Berlin truck truck attack still fresh, London mayor Sadiq Khan assured crowds the capital was "as safe as it possibly can be".
In Scotland, Hogmanay celebrations attracted a crowd of up to 80,000 people to Edinburgh for the sold-out, world-famous event, described as the UK's largest outdoor winter festival.
In Moscow, red starbursts exploded above the Kremlin for the Russian occasion, which marks Russia's major gift-giving holiday.
Police in Berlin say the city's New Year events were largely peaceful, although there were two reports of sexual harassment.
Hundreds of thousands of people turned out for the fireworks at the Brandenburg Gate, which included a concert by the British singer Bonnie Tyler.
Paris rang in the New Year with tens of thousands of people turning out for the fireworks display at the Champs-Elysees.
Security was tightened across France following several terrorist atttacks over the past two years. Officials said more than 96,000 police and soldiers were deployed over the New Year's weekend.
In Helsinki, the fireworks also signified the beginning of the centenary year of Finnish independence.
Meanwhile Khan said the mood on London's streets was "upbeat", adding it was "really important we don't allow terrorists to disrupt our celebrations on this New Year's Eve".
Fears of a mass-casualty terror plot targeting one of the UK's New Year events have been heightened after trucks were used in devastating attacks on crowded areas in Nice and Berlin.
