The Cancer Council has rejected a push by British scientists for Australians to get more sunlight, to ward off a range of health problems.
At a conference in Melbourne this week, a University of Southampton scientist suggested it was time for a radical 'rethink' of advice given to the general public about sun exposure.
Scientist Martin Feelisch says 'healthy doses' of sunlight are thought to protect against heart disease, high blood pressure and even stroke.
However, Cancer Council CEO Ian Olver says the anti-skin cancer message already recommends some sun exposure.
