Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has signed a new five-year contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he has spent his entire NFL career.
"It's home - it's family," says the 33-year-old, who has played 11 seasons in Pittsburgh.
He has led the Steelers to two Super Bowl titles and, in 159 games with the team, "Big Ben" has passed for 39,057 yards and 251 touchdowns.
"As much as my wife and kids are family, so is the Rooney family and my team and coaches," he said on Friday. "I've always said this is where I want to be."
Financial terms of the contract, signed as Roethlisberger was heading into the final year of an eight-year $US102 million ($A132.5 million) contract he signed in 2008, were not revealed by the team.
Roethlisberger tied for the NFL lead with a career-high 4952 passing yards in 2014, with 32 touchdowns, matching a career-high first set in 2007.
"There is no question Ben has grown over the years and truly has become a leader of our team," said Steelers president and co-owner Art Rooney II.
